One of the most common questions I get in Instagram Q&As is for my favorite recipes. So, I’ve put together a list of my top 40 Kinda Healthy Recipes of all time that’s divided into savory and sweet sections.
Putting this list together was a fun exercise in looking at how far recipes have come. I’ve published more than 400 recipes over the past 3-4 years. Some were decent, a few were great, and plenty were just plain bad. Don’t worry, most of the bad has been deleted.
If you’ve been around since the early days, I appreciate you sticking with me. And I hope to continue improving and providing tasty, healthy-ish things for you to cook. Now, to the list!
My Top 40 Kinda Healthy Recipes
The Best of Savory
The Best Oven Baked Tacos
This recipe combines one of my favorite ways to make taco meat with cheese and corn tortillas to make cheesy, crispy baked tacos.
Air Fryer Greek Chicken and Veggies
If you're a fan of sheet pan dinners, you'll love this recipe. It's packed with protein and perfect for meal prep.
Southern Chicken and Dumplings
Low fat Greek yogurt dumplings with a simple rotisserie chicken soup - I remember eating at least 4 bowls in one sitting during recipe testing for this one!
Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets 7 Ways
It's hard to leave this recipe off the list. It's just hard to beat having low fat chicken nuggets ready in 20 minutes. And all the flavor options take it over the top.
Easy Honey Sesame Chicken
This Panda Express copycat takes a shortcut with frozen chicken breast chunks but includes an option to make your own. It's easy to make and according to some, outshines the original.
Spicy Coconut Ground Chicken
This recipe takes about 20 minutes from start to finish, goes perfectly with rice or veggies, and reheats beautifully. I've made double batches of this recipe more times than I can count.
Sweet Chili Ground Beef and Brussels Sprouts Skillet
Are you sensing a theme with my favorite recipes? I'm a sucker for the 20-minute simple meat and veggie combos. And this recipe is no exception with seasoned ground beef and brussels pan fried in chili oil and finished with sweet chili sauce.
Air Fryer Carrot Fries
"I can't believe these aren't sweet potato fries." That has to be the most common comment about this recipe. If you need a low carb fries replacement, you'd be hard pressed to find a better option.
Instant Pot Pulled BBQ Chicken
In contention for my favorite recipe of 2020, you can make SO many things with this pulled chicken. Stuffed potatoes, nachos, sliders, pizzas, and more.
Pressure Cooker Mexican Shredded Chicken
If I had to choose between this and the pulled BBQ chicken above, I might combust. They're very similar in the sense you can make a beaucoup of things with them. Tacos, nachos, quesadillas, taquitos—you name it. (The recipe includes recipes for all these things, too.)
High Protein Creamy Taco Soup
When anyone asks for my most popular recipe of all time, I usually mention this one. And interestingly enough, it was one of the earliest recipes on the blog. It's high protein, packed with veggies, easy to make, and super tasty.
Beef and Ricotta Cannelloni
This is one of my most underrated recipes. While it does take a bit more work than others, every reader who's tried it has raved about it. If you have some time on a weekend and want to treat yourself, make this.
Healthy Cheeseburger Bites
Similar to the taco soup, this recipe is one that just keeps going. These burger bites are perfect for parties or snack meal prep.
Fettuccine Bolognese
Similar to the cannelloni, this bolognese takes a bit more work and veggie prep, but it's definitely worth it. And if you paired it with some Carb-a-nada fettuccine, you'd have one of the highest protein recipes on my blog.
Cajun Sausage Pasta Bake
This is, surprisingly, one of the highest rated recipes on the site. And like many others on the popular list, it's a great combination of easy and tasty.
Chicken Fajita Pasta Bake
I went through a phase of pasta bakes because readers seem to love them just as much as I do. If I had to choose a personal favorite from the bunch, I think this might be the one I'd go with.
Cast Iron Pizza with Greek Yogurt Pizza Dough
Warning: once you enter the world of cast iron pizzas, you won't want to go back. Seriously, search my Facebook group for this and you'll see something like 1,000 posts with topping ideas and tips.
Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Dip
This list wouldn't be complete without some kind of buffalo sauce infused dish. If I had to choose a favorite from the buffalo chicken gang, this dip would be it. It's unbelievably good, especially when you look at its nutrition facts.
Greek Yogurt Biscuits
If you asked me which recipe I'm most proud of, this would be at the top of the list. The recipe shouldn't produce biscuits as light and fluffy as it does. And somehow I nailed this one on the very first try.
Chicken Breakfast Sausage
I'm also proud of my homemade breakfast sausage seasoning. This recipe pairs it with ground chicken, but you could make low fat turkey breakfast sausage or even classic pork sausage with ground pork.
The Best of Desserts & Sweets
Monkey Bread Pizookie
This recipe turns my Greek yogurt biscuits into cinnamon sugar puffs that take a bath in butter and brown sugar.
Air Fryer Apple Fritter
If I had a list of my favorite items from donut shops, it would be a short one. Donut holes and apple fritters. That's about it. So I put a lot of effort into getting this apple fritter as true to form while still keeping the calories under control. According to readers, I did an okay job.
Kinda Healthy DoubleTree Cookies
It took us one day to make a Kinda Healthy spin after DoubleTree released their notorious cookie recipe.
Vanilla Bean Protein Sugar Cookies
If you're going to make one protein cookie from my blog, this is the move. Don't substitute any ingredients, though.
Slutty Protein Brownies
This recipe takes the sugar cookie recipe from above and puts Oreo cookies and fudge protein brownie on top.
S'mores No Bake Protein Bites
This was one of the first 50 recipes on the blog, and I've reworked it several times with different protein powders and ingredients. I don't make these enough but every time I do, I'm reminded why it's withstood the test of time.
High Protein Buckeyes
This one tiptoes the line of Kinda Healthy, but the extra calories are definitely worth it. And since buckeyes are known as a holiday treat, that makes it totally okay, right?
No Bake Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake
If you asked for my favorite protein powder recipe, this cheesecake is certainly in the top 3. If it wasn't seasonal with the pumpkin, I think it would be number 1.
Oreo Protein Cake
I remember testing this recipe 6 times, which meant we had to eat 6 Oreo cakes. It was a frustrating but highly enjoyable week.
White Chocolate Raspberry Protein Cheesecake
Cheesecake is kind of a cheat code when it comes to protein powder desserts. Unlike cakes or cookies, it's easier to make ingredient substitutions without ruining a recipe. So this has been an older recipe that I've sort of forgotten about but is definitely worth trying.
3-Ingredient Protein Powder Pancakes
This cheat code of a recipe gives a guide for pairing protein powder with your favorite pancake mix to make simple, protein boosted pancakes that are actually very good. Nobody likes flat, chewy pancakes.
No Bake Oatmeal Peanut Butter Protein Bites
Similar to the s'mores bites, this recipe has been around for a long time. It does contain banana, which turns a few people off. But if you're a fan of the banana and peanut butter combo, you'll love this little snack fix. They freeze well and only take a minute or two to thaw for a snack on the go.
Butterfinger Protein Oatmeal
I got away from using sugar free pudding mix a couple years ago but if there's one reason to keep some in the house, it's this recipe.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Oatmeal Bake
This recipe is great for a slow weekend morning where you can sit down to have a big, ooey-gooey, super filling breakfast.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Granola
My granola recipes are another group of recipes I'm proud of. If you make them without any ingredient swaps, you'll understand why. They're perfectly crunchy (and stay that way) and have unbelievable macros when compared to most "protein" granola products.
One-Minute, 100-Calorie Protein Brownie
This recipe was the first to get any serious traction and made me think I might be onto something with food blogging. It's ridiculously simple so I'm not sure how I should feel about that, but it's another that's withstood the test of time like a champ.
White Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Cookies
If I had to choose a second place to the sugar cookie recommendation, it'd probably be these cookies. I'm just an absolute sucker for peanut butter and white chocolate, though.
