These healthy buffalo chicken wraps fill low calorie tortillas with a creamy blend of pulled rotisserie chicken, coleslaw, and cheese. They’re super easy to make and perfect for summer, since there’s zero cooking required! Each wrap has 10 grams of protein with just 3 grams of fat, 10 grams of carbs, and 105 calories.
Everything You Will Need
The filling is customizable, but my version combines rotisserie chicken with coleslaw mix, nonfat Greek yogurt, buffalo sauce, and Hidden Valley ranch seasoning.
Want to use something other than rotisserie chicken? That’s fine! Any cooked and pulled chicken will work great for these wraps. If you’re using buffalo chicken, however, you may want to pull back on the buffalo sauce in the creamy component.
If you want to omit the coleslaw or swap it for something like just shredded carrots or cabbage, go right ahead. Though you may need to adjust the amount of buffalo sauce.
Blue cheese is the final component of the filling. I love the combination of ranch and blue cheese, but you’re welcome to swap it for cheddar if you prefer. Gorgonzola, feta, queso fresco, or jack cheese would also work great as substitutes.
This filling is not too far off from something like my rotisserie chicken salad, in case you wanted to get even more creative with additional ingredients. A chicken salad wrap works all the same!
As a final tip about the filling, I’d encourage you to taste it before wrapping. That way you can easily adjust the flavors. Too salty or spicy? Add some sweetness via honey or acidity with vinegar or lemon juice. Need more garlic for your palate? Go for it!
Once you’ve landed on the filling for your buffalo chicken wraps, all that’s left are the tortillas and leafy greens. I used La Tortilla Factory light flour tortillas, but any flour tortilla works.
Other options might include the lavash bread from my BBQ rotisserie chicken wraps or Mission Carb Balance tortillas and Counter protein tortillas from my sheet pan chicken wraps.
Serving, Pairing Ideas, and Storing
It’s hard to beat chips with a sandwich or wrap. If you’re keeping things high in protein, the Wilde chicken chips I mentioned in my chicken cheesesteak recipe are great (the queso flavor is pictured here).
More ideas for sides: air fried french fries, fresh vegetables like carrots and celery, and dips like more Greek yogurt ranch or cottage cheese ranch dip
The recipe makes 20 small wraps, so you’ll likely have enough for more than one meal. Which is good news because these are great when served chilled like a cool wrap. Just be sure to fully enclose the filling with greens to prevent the tortillas from getting soggy. Wrapping the chicken wraps in deli or parchment paper should also help with tortilla integrity over something like foil or an airtight container.
Well, I think that’s a wrap. (Sorry for the pun.) If you try this recipe and love it, I always appreciate recipe reviews in the card below. And if you have a question about the recipe or its ingredients, I’d be happy to answer it in the comments below.
High Protein Buffalo Chicken Wraps
Creamy buffalo ranch chicken and veggies wrapped in low calorie tortillas.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Rotisserie Chicken
- 8 oz Coleslaw Mix
- 1 cup Nonfat Greek Yogurt
- 1/2 cup Buffalo Sauce*
- 1 Tablespoon Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning
- 3 oz Blue Cheese Crumbles or Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 8 oz Baby Spinach and Arugula (or your choice of greens)
- 10 Flour Tortillas**
Instructions
- Mix the Greek yogurt, ranch seasoning, and buffalo sauce together in a large bowl.
- Add the pulled rotisserie chicken, coleslaw mix, and cheese to the bowl and toss everything together until evenly coated.
- Wrap the tortillas in damp paper towel and microwave for 20 seconds.
- Add your choice of greens to a tortilla, followed by the chicken mixture, and more greens before tightly wrapping. Ensuring the creamy chicken filling is sandwiched between the greens will prevent the tortillas from getting soggy.
- Slice the wraps in half with a sharp knife and serve. You can use toothpicks to seal for easier serving, if desired.
Notes
*I used Noble Made mild buffalo sauce, which has 10 calories per tablespoon (80 total in this recipe). Frank's RedHot buffalo sauce (0 calories per tablespoon) or Primal Kitchen buffalo sauce (25 calories per tablespoon) are great alternatives.
**The nutrition facts were calculated with La Tortilla Factory light flour tortillas, which have 80 calories, 4 grams of protein, 16 grams of carbs, 6 grams of fiber, and 2 grams of fat each.
I served with Wilde chicken chips. Baked potato chips, chicharrones, crispy veggies like fresh carrots and celery, extra Greek yogurt ranch, and air fried or baked fries are also great pairings.
