I’ve made plenty of protein pancakes in my day, but these 3-ingredient protein powder pancakes are easily my favorite. They’re just so easy, fluffy, golden brown-ey, and yummy!
These pancakes also check the customizability box. I’ve included an infographic at the bottom of this post with four different recipe variations for the primary ingredient, and you can swap the other two ingredients all the same.

Ingredients for Protein Powder Pancakes
You’ll only need three ingredients, and every one of them is customizable:
- protein powder
- skim milk or you choice of milk
- pancake mix – the four variations I’ve included are for Bisquick, Birch Benders, Krusteaz Protein Pancakes, and Kodiak Cakes

Like I mentioned, you can plug and play with all the ingredients. The recipe suggests a range of milk to use for different combinations. If you’re using a different blend of protein powder than whey (plant based, casein, etc.), you may need to tweak the liquid a bit more.
The good news is that no matter what you change in the recipe, they’re really difficult to mess up!
Final Protein Powder Pancakes Notes
These work great for homemade McGriddles. And in case you’re wondering, you can definitely use this recipe for waffles. Check out my chicken and protein waffles as an example!

3-Ingredient Protein Powder Pancakes
Ingredients
- 1 C 120g Bisquick, or your choice of pancake mix*
- 1 scoop, 31g Vanilla PEScience Select**
- 3/4 C 180 Skim Milk, or your choice of milk
Instructions
- Mix the pancake mix and protein powder together in a bowl before stirring in the milk slowly. You may need more/less milk if you're using a different protein powder.
- Stir until everything is just mixed without any major lumps. Over mixing will make your pancakes flat.
- Heat a pan or griddle over medium-high heat with nonstick cooking spray. You may need to test your stovetop for best results.
- Slowly pour 1/4 cup circles in the pan, pouring into the center of the circle for symmetrical pancakes.
- Cook for about 2 minutes before checking the edges. If you can see the golden brown ring around the edge, flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the pancakes are cooked through.
- Top with butter, syrup, and your choice of toppings.

Additional Pancake Mix Options
Below you’ll find two graphics with more pancake mix options. The first graphic uses PEScience protein powder and the second uses a whey-only protein powder.

For Whey-Only Protein Powder Pancakes

I had wayyy too much whey protein powder and Kodiak cake mix that I didn’t know what to do with saw this Recipe was only 3 ingredients so I had to give it a shot. GASSSSSSS🤤 Used ALL of my Protein Powder and Kodiak Mix using the ratios. Meal prepped for McGriddles or Ice Cream Sandwiches or just simple pancakes. THIS RECIPE DOES NOT MISS🎯🎯🎯😳
I make these pancakes almost every Sunday. I sometimes like to double the recipe and freeze a few. They freeze really well, but they’re so easy, you can just whip up fresh ones on a whim as well. We love breakfast for dinner, and these are a staple in our house.
I’m more of a sweet over savory breakfast person and when I’m trying to make breakfast and be a little healthier and increase my protein intake it’s hard for me to find breakfast recipes that satisfy my sweet tooth. I had never thought about adding in protein powder to pancakes. They were so good and took literally 5 min to make. No messing around with a bunch of ingredients. And I added in a few chocolate chips to sweeten it up a bit!
So easy and tasty!!! My kids love them also!
This was the first recipe I tried from the website. I needed pancakes but was trying to diet. I was drawn to this recipe because of the added protein powder. I originally used Pescience Cake pop, but since then I have also used Bowmar powders and it also works! Love this easy recipe especially because it doesn’t have too many ingredients.
I make these twice a week and double the recipe so they last at least 3 or 4 days. Personally I dont like freezing them but I know you can do that if you like. There is nothing hard about this recipe. Make em, eat em and put the rest in the fridge for the next day to reheat. I actually like to reheat mine in the toaster oven but I suppose microwave is ok too.
Wow!!!! These pancakes are SO delicious! I made with Jiffy All Purpose Baking Mix and used your measurements. Winner, Winner, Pancake Dinner!!!
Great to know Jiffy works as well. Thanks for sharing your research!
I have been making these every morning with kodiak mix and either PEscience(I need more) or the whey protein. But I have made them as waffles instead and it worked perfectly. I’ve been topping them with sweet potato butter(think apple butter).Look forward to them every morning.
I eat this basically everyday! Either pre workout (before exercising) or post workout (after exercising) For protein powder I use Optimal nutrition whey dulce de leche flavor (of course I’d rather use PEScience whey + casein blend snickerdoodle flavor
*HINT HINT 😉) for the flour I just use oats. Grind the oats in a blender to make oat flour. For the milk, I use vanilla unsweetened almond & cashew milk. For syrup I use Walden farms zero calorie mayplesyrup or Carmel syrup 🤤
I have been searching for a good protein Pancake recipe. Most of the time they didn’t come out right, either the consistency or the taste etc was off (sometimes awful). But this one right here was right on point. I followed the kodiak cakes recipe and gold standard 100% whey protein. I used 1/4 cup measuring cup as my scoop to put Pancake batter on skillet. I flipped mine way before 2 minutes. I just eyed it like i would normal Pancakes (watch for bubbles). Definitely adding this to my breakfast rotation.
