I’ve made plenty of protein pancakes in my day, but these 3-ingredient protein powder pancakes are easily my favorite. They’re just so easy, fluffy, golden brown-ey, and yummy!

These pancakes also check the customizability box. I’ve included an infographic at the bottom of this post with four different recipe variations for the primary ingredient, and you can swap the other two ingredients all the same.

Ingredients for Protein Powder Pancakes

You’ll only need three ingredients, and every one of them is customizable:

  1. protein powder
  2. skim milk or you choice of milk
  3. pancake mix – the four variations I’ve included are for Bisquick, Birch Benders, Krusteaz Protein Pancakes, and Kodiak Cakes

Like I mentioned, you can plug and play with all the ingredients. The recipe suggests a range of milk to use for different combinations. If you’re using a different blend of protein powder than whey (plant based, casein, etc.), you may need to tweak the liquid a bit more.

The good news is that no matter what you change in the recipe, they’re really difficult to mess up!

3-Ingredient Protein Powder Pancakes

Quick and easy protein pancakes made with protein powder, milk, and your choice of pancake mix.

Ingredients

  • 1 C 120g Bisquick, or your choice of pancake mix*
  • 1 scoop, 31g Vanilla PEScience Select**
  • 3/4 C 180 Skim Milk, or your choice of milk

Instructions 

  • Mix the pancake mix and protein powder together in a bowl before stirring in the milk slowly. You may need more/less milk if you're using a different protein powder.
  • Stir until everything is just mixed without any major lumps. Over mixing will make your pancakes flat.
  • Heat a pan or griddle over medium-high heat with nonstick cooking spray. You may need to test your stovetop for best results.
  • Slowly pour 1/4 cup circles in the pan, pouring into the center of the circle for symmetrical pancakes.
  • Cook for about 2 minutes before checking the edges. If you can see the golden brown ring around the edge, flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the pancakes are cooked through.
  • Top with butter, syrup, and your choice of toppings.

    I followed the recipe but used bowmar blueberry cheesecake protein powder….also made half pancakes half waffles. Simple easy to follow recipe. Thumbs up. You can freeze them too!

    These ended up being super light and fluffy, and were perfect when paired with sugar-free syrup! I didn’t have enough Kodiak buttermilk mix, so I blended it with the Kodiak almond poppyseed mix. Delicious! I added two eggs as well, doubled the original recipe, and used soy milk instead of skim milk. We also tried these wrapped around a sausage link and dipped in syrup, and they were perfection!

    Easy and simple recipe. Makes great for an easy pre workout meal. Or you can get fancy and use these pancakes as buns for a breakfast sandwich (mcgriddle 🤤) Definitely recommend.

    Have made the a dozen times and love them each time – suggest weighing your ingredients vs a measuring cup and if you use a different protein powder you may need to tinker with it as some bake differently. Super easy to make and taste great.

      Wondering if i use a just add water pancake mix do i still add milk or stick with water??

        Any liquid will do the trick, but milk tends to work even better than water.

    Absolute win! I eat protein pancakes at least once a week. These directions really take the work out of determining ratios. I go back and forth between Kodiak Cake and Krusteaz Protein Cakes mixes and switch up protein flavors based upon my mood. Switched from BN to PEScience and kept the weigh ratios the same with perfect results. I actually use water instead of milk. I even mix up the ingredients beforehand and we take them on the road, add water and make these up at the campsite in the summer.
