High Protein Donut Fries: Strawberry Cheesecake, Lemon Blueberry, and Chocolate Dipped

After Dunkin’ Donuts recently launched donut fries for National Fry Day, they earned some major cool points in my book. What a brilliant idea. Naturally, my first thought was to make a healthier version of their donut fries. And that’s what we’re looking today.
The entire recipe (without sauces) has 64 grams of protein, 60 grams of carbs, 6 grams of fat, and only 530 calories. I’ve included both air fryer and oven instructions so you can make these donut fries in any kitchen.
There are three variations of high protein donut fries and three different dipping sauces—strawberry cheesecake, lemon blueberry, and chocolate dipped. The base protein donut fries recipe only calls for five ingredients and the dipping sauces are all one ingredient each. Sweet and simple as always.

Ingredients for Protein Donut Fries
With only five ingredients, I don’t have many notes. Typically I’d touch on alternative ingredients for coconut flour or pudding mix. But for this recipe, I think it’s best to leave them be. Since it’s a smaller batch recipe with fewer ingredients, there’s less margin for error. You can, however, swap Swerve for regular powdered sugar. And you could probably even get away with leaving it out altogether. It’s only one tablespoon and the dough forms nicely as is.
Since we’re not modifying many ingredients, I’ll just touch on the pudding mix variations and sauces. The three variations in protein donut fries—cheesecake, vanilla, and lemon—are flavored from the sugar free fat free pudding mix. I’ve paired them with strawberries, chocolate, and blueberry, respectively.
That said, you could use any pudding mix and sauce combo you can think of. In terms of pudding flavors, I’ve seen pistachio, chocolate, fudge chocolate, and banana cream. Peanut butter banana cream protein donut fries, anyone?
Strawberry Cheesecake Protein Donut Fries Dipping Sauce
If you use cheesecake pudding mix, I would pair your donut fries with a strawberry ketchup which, in this case, is simply pureed strawberries. Removing the stems from 6-8 strawberries and running them through a food processor or blender should do the trick. Feel free to sweeten them, but I think the strawberries on their own are sweet enough with the sweetness of the donut fries.
Lemon Blueberry Protein Donut Fries Dipping Sauce
The lemon pudding mix calls for a blueberry sauce. Just like the strawberry sauce above, blend 1/4 C or more (up to you) until smooth. I would, however, add a bit of sweetener to this sauce. A 1/2 tablespoon of sweetener is plenty.
Chocolate Dipped Protein Donut Fries
For the vanilla pudding mix, chocolate makes the most sense, right? When does chocolate not make sense?
I contemplated whipping up my chocolate protein frosting but ultimately decided melted chocolate chips would be the easiest route. For a perfect dipping sauce, simply melt 1-2 tablespoons of chocolate chips in the microwave. That’s it.
All righty, that should do it. Let’s get to the recipe.
Protein Donut Fries
Cheesecake, vanilla, and lemon protein donut fries with strawberry, blueberry, and chocolate dipping sauces.
Preheat an oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray an air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl before adding the Greek yogurt.
Stir well, fully incorporating the dry ingredients with the Greek yogurt until you can form a ball of dough.
Break the dough into 6 or 12 pieces depending on your desired fry size. Roll each fry between your palms and place on the baking sheet or in the air fryer basket. (If the dough is sticking to your palms, spray your palms with cooking spray or freeze the dough for a few minutes.)
Bake for 5-7 minutes or air fry at 360 degrees for 6-8 minutes. If you'd like, spray the cooked donut fries with cooking spray and sprinkle your choice of sweetener on top.
While the donut fries cook, make your choice of dipping sauce. The sauce ingredient amounts are in the recipe notes.
- Macros are for donut fries only, not dipping sauces. Also, the macros are for half the recipe. So if you make 6 large fries, a serving is 3 large fries.
- Strawberry dipping sauce: Blend 6-8 large Strawberries in a food processor until smooth.
- Blueberry dipping sauce: Blend 1/4 to 1/2 C blueberries in a food processor until smooth.
- Chocolate dipping sauce: Melt 2 Tbsp (28g) chocolate chips in the microwave (30-40 seconds).
