High Protein Cherry Pie Recipe and Microwaveable Protein Pie Crust Recipe

High Protein Cherry Pie Recipe and Microwaveable Protein Pie Crust Recipe

“Tastes so good make a grown man cry, sweet high protein cherry pie oh yeah.”

90s songs aside, these are really so good that I almost shed a tear. Or at least the combination of flavor and simplicity hit me in the feels.

Go check out the chocolate protein pie for a great pairing if you use the mini crusts I used. Or if you want to stick with a fruit option, check out the microwaveable blueberry protein pie or apple pie.

Protein Pie Ingredients

The premade mini crusts that I used (see below) come in a pack of 6. As you can see in the image below, I tried a lot of different recipes. If you this route and bake 6 in the oven, it would be easy to extrapolate the recipe and make 6 of the same pie.

You can find these mini crusts in bulk on Amazon here. I have a feeling you’ll be making lots of pies after you taste this recipe, so buying in bulk may be the way to go.

You could also skip the mini crusts and just use a full-size, premade reduced fat graham cracker crust. The ingredient list is short here, so it should be easy to keep the ratios in order.

I used Keebler mini graham cracker crusts. They’re only 100 calories per crust. If you’d like to make your own, you can save around 50 calories per pie – 290 calories in the premade and 243 in the homemade. You also get a bit more volume in the homemade version with the premade weighing 20g and the homemade coming in just under 30g.

See the microwaveable pie recipe below for instructions on making your own.

As for the protein, I recommend Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey or Dymatize Whey or Elite XT blended protein.

The macros below are with Gold Standard vanilla.

In the quest for simplicity, this recipe admittedly began as a microwaveable pie experiment. As you’d expect, the oven version is better and is more presentable. But if you need a sweet high-protein treat in under 5 minutes, add this to your repertoire.

I recommend using your saved calories from the homemade crust on a bit of fat-free whipped topping.
